found older mack

thought i would share, its out where i have been keeping my highboy, would make a neat resto/ toy hauler
only 500k on the chassis, has a fresh (as in been drove around but not worked) 350 cummins turned up to 400 horse. has a fuller 15 speed (i suspect that it might be an air-shifted triplex?) new recaps on the back needs fronts obviously. the worst rust you can see at the bottom of the cab in the pic, and the interior is in ok shape for being a 74.
I guess that the guy that owns it just went to the old folks home and would like to get the 7000 he just put into the drivetrain (engine, clutch and what not) seems a bit steep for the rest of the trucks condition. but nonetheless would still be a neat old fart to have.
The tires cost about $1500 to replace, and a rebuilt motor 8-10K, and older used one over 3K.
So if it does start up, and the tires seem good I would do it if I wanted such a ride.
Just remember the old addage Rides Like a Mac.

I guess that the reason for the 7k is thats what he has into the engine overhaul, and rest assured, if it got worked regularly, it would at least get air ride in the rear, or as my dad pointed out find another truck that could make better use of the fresh turned up cummins, and do a swap, have a truck for play and one for work.
Anyways a trucker came in one day, he was driving a 1954, (if I remember correctly) Kenworth. He had fully restored it and had one of those 110 inch sleepers on it.
I don't know where I'm going with this post, other than. You have to go with the nastalgu(sp) aspect of it.
Sur a new Tractor with all the bells and whistles is cool, but where is the wow factor? It's with the oldies but goodies.
