I am ordering my F250 on Monday and looking for some info. I am not all that knowledgeable about some of the options.
The biggest thing is the rear axle. I am going to be towing a 35' camper with the truck and wondering which one would be the best. There are 2 to choose from, eletronic locking and higher ratio. I don't know what benefits I would get from either one of them or even if it worth spending the extra money.
I am not going to use the truck with a plow and am getting the FX4 package.
Are they putting 3:31's with the new 6.7's because there is so much power, or just for fuel mileage? I look at one on my dealers lot (just for fun, I might add), PSD fx4, 10000lb GCVW, gooseneck ball in the bed, 3:31 gears and electronic locker.
If gas motor you have 3 choices 3.73 non LS, 3.73 auto locking and 4.30 auto-locking.
If you have any plans for future lifting/larger tires then consider the 4.30. Lockers are good if you have plans to be off-road/low speed. Not for in the snow on the road. I think the auto kicks out at about 20 mph.
I am getting the gas engine. And thanks for all the info. Not going to lift it or do any off-roading either. Just getting the FX4 for the skid plates and resale.
