Changed oil - Thanks
I did want to note three things.
A 5 gallon Home Depot bucket did not fit past the brackets/braces/frame when setting on level ground, although there is enough clearance under the oil pan (F-250). Good thing I checked prior so that I could elevate the right front tire a few inches to provide clearance. If you use this bucket consider getting the black lid for it. It's low profile, snaps on easily and seals well.
Compared my prior F-150 there is much more oil that leaks out when the filter is unscrewed. Was a bit surprised to see that quantity.
On the old school information center there does not seem to be any confirmation that the system accepted the oil change interval reset.
Thanks for all of the information on the forum - it saved me close to $100.
There are lots of reasons why I love to do this stuff myself.
1. NOBODY cares about my truck the way I do.
2. I save lots of money
3. I know the job is done right; I've had dealers screw up oil changes on my 6.4L!
4. I get the chance to play around underneath and spot problems before they become major. Found a serious transmission fluid leak on my '08 when it was only 4,000 miles old! Wouldn't have had a clue until the truck stopped moving unless I did this stuff myself!
5. Call me strange, but it's FUN!
To address crazy's post - I agree 100%. Many of the dealerships view our trucks as a commodity and feel/have no sense of ownership.
