Yep, another leaf spring question thread...
I've searched here, plowsite.com, powerstroke.org, and several other F-series enthusiast site with no clear answer to my question.
Are there more than one X code spring? For example; Is there an x code for 5.4 equipped trucks and on for v-10, diesel truck, or is it a one size fits all deal?
I just bought a set of X codes from a 5.4 truck, and want to install them in my diesel. My thinking is that there is only one x code, and it fits all applications. Correct?

I've always been a bit foggy on the whole 'X-code' thing. What exactly are they? If X-code designates the highest # springs available (6,000#) then according to the datasheets they were not available on all models. For example the snow plow prep package would have the 6000# rating on a CC LB 5.4 but drop to a SC or SB and the snow plow prep is 5600#. So I'm not 100% sure what the X code designates. I am sure this has been explained before but I may have missed it, in which case I'd appreciate being brought up to speed

Your right on they are the highest rated springs available for 99-04 super duty trucks, they came standard on 450-550s and are on some plow preps
Heres my GUESS about some of the differences you mentioned
CC have more weight over the front axle because they are heavier than reg cabs and ex cabs (obviously) therefore requiring a higher spring capacity, hence the x codes. So for an reg/ext cab less spring is required which results in an improved ride. The CC weighs more needs a higher spring rating.

alstaregixxer - are you certain they are really x code springs?
