I have a 93 F150 Flareside 4x4, 4.9L. A couple of months ago i noticed a clicking sound in the engine, when i press the gas it gets louder. If i let it idle it doesnt hardly make it. It is starting to get on my nerves. Anyone got a solution to what it is, and how i could fix it?
:-staun
Could be any number of things including a bad lifter, rocker arm, etc... How many miles are on the engine, and (stupid question) is the oil clean and full?
You can get a cheap but accurate mechanical oil pressure gauge online for as little as $8 plus shipping, and they're easy to hook up. I'd also recommend a compression test and maybe a vacuum test.

When I first got my truck it started doing that after a couple months and I was likeProfanity Removed!?!?! It clicked just like you described... Oil pan was leaky and I was low by about 2 qts. Filled her up with oil and the noise went away. Fixed the gasket the same week too... was not a pleasant noise to hear coming from my truck.

I just changed the oil this past weekend, and also put in a quart of marvels mystery oil, to see if that would solve it. The engine has 104,100 miles on it..The clicking gets fast as i speed up also..
I just recently got flowmaster exhaust put on, but i will check the manifold, if thats not it, i am going to assume that it is somethin to do with the valves..if there are anymore ideas on wat it could be..juss tell me..thanks..
