i just bought a torch setup with regulators, hoses etc,
My neighbor gave me a oxygen tank and an accetlyne tank.
Now the problem..the oxygen regulator hooked up no problem
the accetylyne is my problem, the tank has male threads and the
regulator has a comoression connection with male threads...
Unlike the O2 regulator that has a female connector.
Is this normal for regulators?? I noticed the tanks he
gave me are from 1992(oxygen or o2) and the accetylne is from
1977(i know its old and needs to be tested etc etc) but did
the tanks change over the years???What am i doing wrong??
Hi,
I 'm not near my torches at this time but to the the best recollection is that acetylene regulator has a left handed threaded
nut (should have notches on the nut)
I don't believe the actylene regulator should have a male connector. It may be easier for you to go to a welding supply or a company that rents tanks and change out the coupling from the regulator to properly match the tank.
I don't know if this helps
there are 2 different styles of valves on ace. bottles, as you knoticed, you have a male to male connection, any welding supply place, maybe even napa dealer will have an addapter for using your regulator and your ace bottle. we ran into the same problem 2 years ago when we switched our contract from Praxxair, to Liquid Air
