Well I recently bought some new tires 315/75/16 and am looking for an inexpensive(Not garbage) Lift. I only want maybe 2-4 inches, nothing crazy, more for aesthetics than anything. I really would rather not spend 1k on a lift though. What's my best route? It's a stock F350 4 door short bed.
My only other concern is that I JUST bought 4 new Rancho 9000's that are made for a 0'' lift truck. Am I screwed with them if I want to lift the truck? Or are there options to lift it and not change the shock length?
I just want to add I do not really take my truck off road so ride comfort is not really an issue.
Suggestion:
Rear: Just your F350 blocks (no rear lift)
Front: Donahue/Icon 2" Mini Spring packs
Longer or relocated track bar is optimal, but not mandatory.
Depending on tires and wheels, that should be enough to clear, yet still allow stock length shocks to work. I have BFG AT'K0's and they just clear.
Wanna go more? It's going to be over $1K... unless you're willing to give up a lot of ride quality.
You'll need springs, longer shocks, track bar relocator, drop pitman arm, longer sway bar links.
I would love to go quality and expensive but it just isn't an option right now. I may just look into the front kit you mentioned. I don't want to do anything "ghetto" so I'll just wait for a big lift.
I've been down the road you are on. Started with one size lift and ended up with a totaly diffrent set up in less than a year later. Your cheapest route for 2" in the front would be some coil spacers. They will get you the tire clearance your looking for very little $$$$ and the shocks you have should work.
just go with some mini spring packs, and if you just want to level it and run the 35's, skip the rear blocks. you may have to trim a little on the lower valance up front and pull back the fender liners some, but you will have plenty room for 35's. and since the mini spring packs go under your stock springs, shock length is unaffected. that is assuming you have leaf springs up front. from your pic it looks like you should if it is 4x4.
ps. there are some pics of my mini spring pack in my galleries. I have an '02 like you, and have the mini springs up front, and taller block in the rear. I wanted to keep the rake so it sits level when towing. The rear is probably the same height you'd get if you put on a 4 inch lift. I was mainly wanting to just run 35's too, but really want to go 6" lift and 37's. I am just waiting to find a affordable second truck to be the primary tow vehicle. That, or get a gooseneck with enough rise to have plenty of room to clear the lift.
