I am thinking of installing a triple pillar and possibly the f650 panel on my 2002 f350 in the future. One problem....I am no electrician by any means...Curious as to the cost of an installation of a boost, egt, fuel pressure, transmission and engine temp gauge setup if installed by someone that knows a whole lot more about that end of the truck than me...anyone have an idea of hours it would take someone to install? Minus prices of the equipment. Any and all guestimates appreciated...
It's not that hard if you want to diy. If you are fairly mechanical and know how to crimp some wires/connections the instructions are pretty easy. Here are some directions from the diesel manor: Gauge Installations at DieselManor- 1999-2003 7.3L Powerstroke
or......just have a GTG. Some of these guys will work for beer and food.
I'm not sure what a shop would charge. If they have done many of them it would probably be a 2 hour job. Just a guess though.
Thanks, I can crimp wires if someone pointed them out to me...my main problem I think is finding the constant on type connection and a intermittent...I really dont wanna screw something electrical up obviouisly no one else does either...just kind of knowing my limitations so to speak...

The two wires you tap are key power and lights. The link above showed the locations. I verified with a meter that I had the right wires. I turned on the the key and measured voltage with the key on and off. Also did the same with the lights by turning them on/off. I'm not sure how many gauges you can run off one source. I installed an inline fuse on both of those so if there was any problems it would blow. If you decide to diy there is always plenty of help here if you run into problems.
You might also post in your local chapter for some help. Performance/aftermarket shops should also be able to help you out.

+1 on Grants post, the two wires are easy to find and the colors are correct. You can get a nice inline fuse holder from radio shack for about 3 bucks, the inline fuse is not normally included with gauges.
thinking of a triple pillar and the f650 mod from clay...after income taxes (if any) come in...no doubt I could install the hardware, I am just not comfortable fooling with the wiring....as far as gauges i am not certain....hear isspro is good.. haven't researched that end of it as of yet....suggestions on gauges"?
Take a look at the Isspro Performax series. Clay has 'em. Made in USA. They cost more up front, but they're easy to install and hands down the easiest to change around and add gauges. Time is money.
Some gauges, like my DiPricols, offer a complete installation wire kit, VERY plug-n-play. My German Shepherd installed mine .
But seriously, it's not as bad as it looks. Just take your time, lay everything out and come up with a game plan for routing. The hardest part is tapping the manifold for the temp sensor and even that's not bad.
The best part about doing things yourself, even if you make a mistake, is you know where/what to look for if you have a problem down the road because your hands were on it.
I have Autometer guages in mine. I have always liked the look of them. Which to choose is all up to you, I like the isspros guages too but didnt want to come off the money for them. Plus I bought two of my guages used so I only have like $125 bucks in three guages and the pod. If i am remembering correctly Clay sells some that are pre-wired so all you would have to do is make two connections. Happy shopping to ya.
