Do I need to put a lift on my 1988 f-150 4x4 to fit 33's. If so what is the least amount of lift that I need to make them fit without problems??

go with a 3 inch body lift. they are cheap and will give you plenty of clearance off road.

Why do you suggest a body lift instead of a suspension lift?

Body lifts are generally cheaper, but I think most here would agree that you usually get what you pay for. All body lifts accomplish is adding clearance for tires. They do not improve or increase suspension travel at all, and if not done properly they can cause problems with shift linkages, etc... By going with a quality suspension lift you not only gain tire clearance, but also more suspension travel and often improved ride characteristics. So the decision comes down to two things, budget and intended use. If you have a limited budget, and just want to have room for some bigger tires, then a body lift should be OK. If you have a little more cash floating around, and you intend on doing the off-road thing, the suspension lift would be a better choice in my opinion.

Back to you original question. You can probably fit 33's with no lift, and maybe just rub the radius arms a little at full turn.

i am going to go with a suspension lift no matter what. I jsut don't know if I should go with a 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch lift. Would I have enough room to clear 33's with a 2 inch?
