my husband needs help

my husband needs to know how to take out the star spring and pushrod out of the old booster without damnaging the spring because he has to re-use it in the new booster and it came with No directions on how to remove it WITHOUT damnaging it. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Are you talking about a brake power booster behind the master brake cylinder. ??

They are usually screwed up if you get them out at all, new booster/MC should come with a new rod. You might get lucky with getting it out and then rebend the retainer to re-use it but I would just get a new rod as your time is worth more than the fight to get it out.
