FUEL TROUBLE

GOOD AFTERNOON,
I HAVE A 96 250 POWER STROKE DIESEL 7.3 L I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH TRUCK SOUNDING ROUGH AND HARD TO START, I HAVE BEEN PLUGGING IN THE TRUCK AND STILL HAVING TROUBLE, I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE ALL 8 INJECTORS OR THE FUEL HEATER INSIDE THE FUEL BOWL. I AM NOT SURE WHICH WAY TO GO AND WHAT TO CHECK.
ANY THOUGHTS, THANKS, WILLIAM

You need to go over to the powerstroke forum. This forum is for old idi diesels.

here is a link:

Wow michobol, you sound so enthusiastic about the IDI's

How about, 'my condolences that you have such an engine, but this forum is for the older, better made, easier to fix engines'.

haha... I was hoping someone would see that.

I didn't want to upset golden with his new-fangled computered up engine... He is a new user and all. lol

Welcome to the FTE, golden. By the way, if you have to replace those injectors on that PSD you are looking at 1000-1500. I just replaced all my injectors 2 months ago for $100. Sorry, dude, couldn't resist...

Yeah, my condolences, I just replaced all 8 of my injectors with brand new Delphi's for less than $200. I really hope you don't have to change yours, it one heck of a bill......

i always ran idi 7.3's which i think mb the best engine ive ever sat above, but one generic preventative fix that my dad and i installed as soon as we got a new diesel was to get a $5 plastic clear inline filter with a small cartridge after our fuel filter and before the injection system. its a good insurance policy if you dont change your fuel filter religiously and they are clear so you can pop the hood anytime and see what youre catching.

sounds like a beginning of a 6bt build up, then all of those stroke mods are for not hahaha. Ah the life of a diesel owner. One of hate and discontent, unless you own an idi and are comfortable in your skin. Getting staged injectors sounds like putting a fart muffler on a civic. Those guys can have that crap. if i want real power ill pay for it by changing out the engine, not going to a stroke.

ah nevermind i see.

But those new fangled PSD trucks sure are purdy! For $2400, you could buy a decent old idi truck. I'm just sayin'...

well yeah and for about 1200 you can get injectors for a 2nd gen cummins that are capable of delivering nearly twice the hp over the stroke stage 3's. strokes just weren't meant for that much power.

my buddy has an 04 f350 with the sick-0 6.0 in it. he was always braggin about how he could drag my old idi all over God's green earth...then he blew a head off...and i had to go get him...and drag it home. whos laughin now. i will say though, the 7.3 powerstroke would be the only powerstroke i would own, if i was to own a psd
