Speedometer calibration - now what...

Hey all,

So I am now running with 315s and have the instructions to change the revloutions per mile in the computer - just need someone to do it.
2 dealers won't touch it, one wants $120 to do it. That seems to be a rip off based on what I have read...
Anyone in the Richmond, VA area that knows of someone who can/will change it? For a reasonable amount? Don't really want to buy a programmer as I am running a DP Tuner...

Thanks
Joe

You can always opt to buy AutoEnginuity and do it yourself!

Then you'd also have one of the best scan tools money can buy!

as per Mike from 5 star when I spoke to him last regarding this same issue -- The tuner will only compesate to correct the shift patterns etc.. for the new tire size - it will not adjust , nor correct the speedometer by more than IIRC by 4-5%. I adjusted my wheel size using my SCT tuner to the new tire size (315 - 35" tire ) and the GPS still shows the speed to be off by about 10% ( real speed vs. speedometer reading ). The only way to really get it to be correct is to buy a deivce especially designed for speed calibration or perhaps there is some other programmer the dealer may have that can compensate and not throw off any other settings...

Hope this helps

I have a snap on VERUS scanner and that one wont let me do anything with speedo adjustments on my 01. And the scanner was almost $8000.

The speedo adjustments are handled by the ABS computer. I know AE can do it, because we did my truck.

RACERX, try looking on the VERUS under the ABS settings.

RMBC, thanks. I found it. I have the adapter and pass through adapter. VERUS states "Pass thru ProII requirements: interface device such as VERUS or PC, internet access, AND a data subscription through OEM". (Buy Motorcraft Parts Online | Official Motorcraft Auto Parts Site | FordParts.com)

I have the verus, internet access, but no subscription to motorcraft.com.

im gonna go more checks to see if i can bypass it someway. thanks though.
