My 2000 F-350 Super duty has the V-10. I am having trouble figuring out an electrical problem. The blower motor for the heater will only run on high. I do not know how to troubleshoot this. Seems the power is getting to the blower but nothing happens until the switch is in the high position. Any ideas?? I am also still trying to get the duels off the back end to change the caliper. Thanks
Check the blower motor resistor. Its in the fan housing. Bunch O wires going to it..
Just about guarantee its the blower motor resistor. Be sure to check the connector for damage, may be melted at the pins, but most the time they are not. Sometimes the resistor is shorted out by the blower motor, most people do not realize it and they throw in a resistor and later on down the road it is burnt up again. May be worth pricing a blower motor as well. But i can almost guarantee its the resistor (i say almost because in the automotive field you cant guarantee anything). When the blower motor is turned to the high position the resistor is not used. You always have the same amount of power and current to the resistor the resistor just resists the current sent to the motor therefore giving you your different speeds. This is why the motor works on high and no other speeds... Hope this helps
Thanks any help with the duels, I have tried everything listed in the stuck duels thread.
I have not read that thread, but im assuming you cant get the wheels of the axles? Take some penetrating oil and spray around the studs, take a big prybar and stick between the tires and pry on em. Once the outside tire is off spray it down again, take a rubber mallet and hit the tire. OR u can crawl under the truck and kick on it. Hope this helps
