As far as removing the axle shafts, refer to the tech folder under "Replacing your SD ball joints". The post includes step by step instructions and pictures. Basically, remover your hub, thrust washers, hub bearing and spindle and then the shafts will slide right out. Be prepared though, the inner and outter axle seals are dealer only and cost around $55 each.
I installed it all and no more clunk. It is completely gone now. If all things could be as easy. 8 years and 205K miles take a toll on the OEM links. Parts were $202 out the door.

$50 for the sway bar bushings maybe, but not for the end links.
50 bucks, sway bar and end link bushings,15 bucks to press old link bushings. Better than 200 could have taken the war dept. to a nice dinner and still had money to spend on the truck.
