Rear End Swap Information
Ok..now I'm looking at replacing the 2.47 with a used 8.8 with 3.08 ( haven't gotten it from the guy i'm trying to get as much info as possible)
he's selling it for about 100 bucks out of an 1983 F150 he also has a 9 inch but I don't know the gears
I"m looking at doign the swap myself..Now I know some things to check with the used rear..i.e slack..but what other things to I need to consider.
1. Good Questions to ask the seller..(he's a local guy)
2. I just recently had my whole brake system redone..new shoes/hardware in the rear..so I want to keep that stuff) the drum as also been turned..so the rear brakes that are on my current truck I need to keep.
Now..is it possible to take the drums off without having to pull out the hardware..i.e. pull the axles out..then take the drums off..swap the rear..or do I need to pull all that hardware out and then back in...
Any advice would be great...any resources online would be helpful..I've looked at both my chiltons/haynes manuals..and trying to figure out
Thanks all

If you were going from a 9" to a different 9" well, thats a different story, all you have to do in that case is swap the 3rd member.... ahhhh the beauty of a 9"
Any tips on pulling the axles out??
