I made an album (55 Bus) with some pictures.
I was leaning toward a candy red / silver but would be open to any design.
I just want it to look clean.
Thanks
This is just my taste but if I had that bus I would do something in an emerald green and gold. Emerald might not be the correct green but one of the eye poping greens with a little gold flake in it with some type of gold trim/design. As for the interior I would have to think about that some but it would flow right along with the exterior. Really you have to do what you want and what you like. If you like candy red/silver then thats what you should do.
From the practical side, any candy or metalflake paint will need frequent care to stay nice looking. How often do you want to wax the roof of that bus??? Red seems to be worst for sun-resistance. How about a two-tone with white roof? Can't hurt with keeping it cool inside, too.
how wild are you willing to go? I see a chopped top to get the proportions down.
I don't know art, but I know what I like. My avatar is one of my concept sketches.

I just noticed you were asking for just a paint scheme... anyhoo, here's my chop sketch with a 54 fanged grille between 56 headlights... 22.5" Alcoa wheels.

That's looks cool.
I was actually going to try and chop the top but I have allot more $ invested than I had originally planned so I'm going to have to leave the top alone. I would have to pay someone to do that. I don't think I would tackle that job.
Man you guys are artists. When you mentioned chopping I didn't think much of it, but now that I see a picture, well that would be cool. I think those two drawings are frame worthy. I'm more of a bad stick figure guy myself.
I probably should stay away from this thread. I look at that bus and can think of a ton of uses for it.
Where is 51PanelMan and his mad Photoshop skills when we need them? I think there would be so many really cool paint schemes you could use....
thank you for the kind words harrier here is one more crappy sketch...i got really lazy and just cut the drawing in half and placed the half underneath the other half,,,i would love to have photochop but i try to practice my drawings,,,
I was just watching a show on the speed channel last week, I think is was called Chop Cut and Build or something like that. Anyway they showed a little clip of a short bus they had chopped the top and it looked good. I would like to see that complete segment but I rotate nights every two weeks at work so I guess I'll have to catch it on reruns. Might already be reruns. I'd never seen that show till last week and they had a marathon all day.
HEY! I recanize that bus! I rode one juss like it to skool! Seriously, you've got to keep us updated as you build that thing. What do you have planned for power?
The bus has 88 model running gear out of a P30 stepvan (the frames were the same) and I have a Cummins 4Bt for power.
It really needs to be lowered but not in the budget right now. I have gray seats out of a 2010 Ford van for interior. Drivers seat, 2 captains chairs, 1 - 3 person seat between the wheel wells and a 4 person seat in the back. A friend of mine is going to paint it for me if I can ever tell him how I want it.
