I know this sounds crazy, but it seems to work for me. A google search can sometimes actually work better and pick up more relevant things on this board than this boards actual search feature. The people that run this board must have a deal will google, and this board seems to be really exposed when it comes to a google search. Almost every "ford truck" search on google will bring up posts from the FTE board
I cant count the number of times Iv searched google for text or pictures of ford trucks and gotten new info I could never find myself right here on FTE.
Yeah, the search engine here is pretty primitive. For example, the plural of a word (e.g.
"tools") is NOT the same as the singular version ("tool") and it WON'T list them BOTH
in the results, it'll find ONLY the exact one you searched on.
Speaking of google searches, this works well (put it in the google box):
search terms you are looking for site:ford-trucks.com/forums
This searches ONLY on the FTE forums, but there is no way of specifying WHICH forum(s)
is/are included or excluded, it's all or none.
after looking around the site for a few, I discovered you can click on any forum and from withen the forum there's a search option to search only that forum for info. that'll come in handy and negates my previous post about info popping up from model years that don't pertain to me.
I've never seen this, can you maybe make a screen shot or explain exactly where this is?
when you open the 1980-1986 thread, in the top right under the page listing for the forum above the views column you'll see a box that says "search this forum" just to the right of the "forum tools" box. sorry, I don't have a screen capture utility on this computer. if you do an advanced search from the drop down box it opens up even more tools to help narrow results. also I just noticed that at the top of the thread there is a box that will allow you to search just that specific thread for terms.
There have been a lot of posts in here lately with new members joining up that have a 1984 - 1986 F150, often hacked up by the previous owner. As most of us in here already know, these models possessed the infamous EEC-IV engine computer/TFI ignition/feedback carburetor combo. These models are very unique with these systems, and I think a lot of new members may benefit from a sticky at the top of the forums to help explain what it is they are working with.
Great idea, and I'll add another. Why not cross post this into the new stickie in the inline six section? than we could refer the poster there as well.
