My windshield wipers start working on there own sometimes. Seems like when they do, whenever I hit my brakes they come on. Other times they seem to work fine. Does anyone have any idea where the short might be? Dont know if these two problems are connected in any way, but my running lights for trailer dont work anymore. Blows fuse everytime I hit the brakes
Thanks
I would check for wires rubbing against the brake pedal, arm or master cylinder plunger. Wires may have worn through the insulation and are grounding out.
I had a 96 F250 that the wipers decided to work on their own everytime I hit the brakes too hard or hit a set of railroad tracks, it ended up being a bad switch in the steering column.
But seeing as how you have the added problem with the running lights you might be right that there is a short. Is there anything going on when you hit the hazard lights? That might indicate a short in the steering column, since both switches are located there.
I have found that there is a bundle of wires behind the coolant resivor. If I wiggle them than the wipers will work right. Just not sure how to get to them yet
