The mother inlaw has a 2000 Mercury villager with a 6 banger, not sure what liter. It started over heating and took it to the shop and they said the water pump and thermostat. It is still over heating and the people at the shop said they can't fix and need to take somewhere else. Any help on what may still be causing it to over heat mwould be helpful.

That's what I thought about the price. I am about 2 hrs away, There's a brother inlaw been trying to get him to look at it. Not much help
I talked to the repair shop today, They said that the waterpump and TSTAT are working and opening and closing. The did tell me that at the radiator the right hose is cold and left is hot and the same thing at the heater core. They said that there is a check valve at the heater core. Would it be possible to by pass that check valve to see if it is the the valve or the heater core?
Don't worry about the heater core right now, The radiator is plugged.
Radiator shop can boil it out.......worse case scenario, you get a good salvage yard radiator. Should not be too expensive.
