my first v10 an interesting problem

Hi, I just bought a 2006 v10 4x4 at the auction today, It has 90k miles
no rust. $7k

It needs a back seat, the rear main leaf is broken. And the big mystery is this.


When idling in park or neutral, the truck will hardly accelerate . I mean I can mash the gas down, hold it there, and it will take 10 sec or more to get to 5000 rpm

In gear, Rev or Drive, it seems normal. I was not able to drive it personally.

I tried the search function for 30 min or so and I am stumped. Can anybody help?

A sensor?
A program for a fleet truck?
ideas?

I should say as well, the engine is perfectly smooth the whole time, it doesn't sputter or surge, it just seems like the pedal is all but dead. when it finally starts to rev up it feels like I am giving it 1/16th throttle rather than full throttle.

The pcm limits the amount of throttle/rpms the engine can achieve in P and N. What your experiencing is normal. Since the 05' ups use a throttle by wire the pcm controls the throttle body blade.

I'd definatley fix the things you know are wrong with it along with changing the spark plugs, fuel filter, clean the MAF and look over all the fluids. With some care now I think you will have a truck that will last you a very long time for a little amount of money. Ford says the spark plugs are good for 100k miles when in reality they should be changed every 50k-60k miles.
