Steering column R&R

Steering column R&R
Can someone give me some how to advice? I am about to replace the steering colum on my 96, it is an auto with all the options, I know the R&R is pretty straight forward, however a couple of the hook up's are a bit forign to me, like there is a small wire cable with a loop in it comming out of the new column I assume that goes to the trans position indicator, but not sure.
Would appreciate any help.
