rough idle

I have a 2001 expedition 5.4. Coming out of a garage at 55 degrees into 17 degrees weather my truck idles really rough it sounds like it is flooding out. on the road it runs fine.
In the afternoon coming home it idles fine. Cleaned throttle body and censers in air intake still same problem.

The 2-wire coolant temperature sensor (CTS) could be your problem. It's function is to tell the ECM the temperature of the engine so that the ECM can adjust the air/fuel mixture accordingly. There is also a 1-wire CTS but that's just for the dash gauge, so don't get them confused.

In the intake right behind the alternator. Okay, maybe more like the back passenger corner of the alternator.
