Seriously. I was pretty upset at the thought of replacing the transmission on a 2 week old truck...

I sure wish the dealer would have mentioned the fact that they hid the SP Diesel unit behind the dash.

I think that box is about 9 years old. They make more streamlined versions now. I got in touch with a guy I knew and showed him the pic and he wasthe one asking about the switch. Apparently, the switch defines how many modes it does. I remembered them but did not have a working knowledge of it. You might see if there are any numbers on it and see if u can operator manual on it from sp diesel. I saw when googling that company name they frequent another forum site using sp diesel as user name.

I'll check it out and see if I can find some sort of model number on it in the morning. Thanks for looking into this, it's been a big help.

I'll have to find someone good to talk to at SP Diesel.

Looks like either way I have a nice mess of wires to deal with!

Wow that was a pretty good deal for you. You think you have a problem with a new truck, and it turns out you have a pretty sweet mod.

What would any body suggest for a similar problem with out the addition of after market braking system. I have a 2003 Excursion 7.3 PSD 130,00 miles completely stock. In late December I started to hear hissing at the low end of a gear or when RPM would stabilize for that gear. The hissing was matched with engine speed but would go away as RPM or load would increase. I thought the sound was coming from the waste gate since the engine would be more efficient in the cold. Yesterday, my wife was driving near our home when she felt what felt like a flat tire. I take that as meaning hard to maneuver and lack of response from acceleration. She made it around the block and came to a stop. After walking around to check for flat tires she tried to drive off but the truck would not move no matter how fast the RPMs revved. Reverse also was not working. When I showed up I checked fluid level, which seemed to be normal, and for loose electrical connections. While waiting for the tow truck I started up the truck and was able to get the transmission to engage and move forward but after stopping at a short distance the truck would not move. The only thing I’ve done recently is a filter change including fluid in the pan. I’m ready to remove and replace the transmission but would like to know if some one has any recommendations.

With it being a three pos.switch, could it possibly be Off/Torq.converter lock/Torq converterlock w/ebpv brake...Just throwing thoughts out there...
