good day i want to remove the rubber bisket to lift the cab up a bit to paint the frame and when i undo the nut/bolt the 2 halves dont seem to come apart like there is a sleave with a ridge that is catching is there a trick to getting these apart? with out dammaging them? thank regurds joe
First of all, the nut is part of the bottom plate. If you have gotten the bolt loose, and out, you simply need to leave it part way threaded into the nut and tap on it to seperate the two halves. May be a little trickier with the cab still on, but Im sure it can be done.
Just went through this battle with my right rear cab mount, and what a battle it was. I got it apart, but it was destroved in the process. I am about to order a new one, and finish it up, but I an going to wait till after the holidays to do it. Its not a daily driver, but a fair weather toy which works for me.
when doing the teardown on my 79 , i ran the bolts back in as mentioned above, but it took more than tapping. I had to beat the living s@#%* OUTTA THEM. the bolts were rusted into oblivion anyway as were the mounts , so gonna replace anyway theyre not that expensive
ya thats what i thought any one know where to get a set for all 4 corners? was thinking about polyurathane but might be to harsh of a ride being a one ton and all stock type rubber is what i would like to go with if i can find a set any one name a place?
LMC, Dennis Carpenter and NPD are good for starters i'm sure others will be along with more. Personally i would go with rubber, not nearly as harsh on the ole bum
