idling question for 4.9

my 4.9 does not want to idle very well it lopes every once and awhile then evens out is this normal? and when i have the defrost on the engine struggles to stay at idle like the ac is on, Ive herd that the defrost is in some way connected to the ac is that true? i know that i have a bad fuel pump in the front tank but at the moment do not have time to fix it but this happens on both tanks.

might not be the problem at all, but when's the last time you've done a tune up

Just keep in mind this may be nothing involved with your issue, but you should take out the spark plugs and check to see how they look, and take off the distributor cap. I think there'd be wear on the terminals but i don't remember, cause i didn't really look when i changed mine, considering it hadn't been changed for 30k miles.

It's just little basic stuff, so maybe a tune up could be causing it if it's been a long time since changed, if it's ever even been done at all.

The defrost mode does cycle the A/C compressor on/off to remove moisture from the air.

is it needed to run the A/C compressor or is it just to help dry the air?

It dries the air. If the A/C compressor is removed you will lose the dehumidification properties, but the airflow will still work.
