Hi, I want to buy some cheap offroading lights for my 7.3 litre f350 because i want to prep it for offroading...any ideas where i can buy them cheap but can last for a long time...Also any other ideas what other cheap things i can buy to make it offroading ready???
how much off road do you plan to do in a truck that weighs close to 4 tons empty? My ford is my tow rig and i have a rock crawler that she hauls for me. As for keeping things cheap for off roading....ebay, craigslist, harbor freight.
Do your research on the products you want, i always have not cared too much about lights cause i break them. I used cheap harbor freight lights, they are not good quality but work.
Lights are like anything, you get what you pay for.
I've been involved in off-road racing for almost 40 years and many people buy the wrong lights. Many people buy long-range spots and then proceed to drive 10-30 mph with them on. Buy two good flood/euro beam lights in 130W halogen and aim them according to how you'll really drive.
I chase and pre-run in Baja for a Trophy Truck team and you DON'T need the 12 70W HID lights we run on the front of the truck unless you plan on running through Baja whoops at 100+ mph but it is GREAT to be able to see well off-road.
We are sponsored by KC HiLites and, as well as making $1200.00 carbon fiber 70W HID lights they have much more reasonable options for the rest of us.
KC issues us a lightbar with 2 of their 8" 130W halogen floods and 2 of the spots, l RARELY use the spots, even in Baja.
Remember its all about putting the light where you need it and sometimes the cheap reflectors in the bargain lights scatter more light than they project.
