the important thing to do now is to try to only remember the important and fun stuff.
think of all the good times youi had together, not of the bad times or arguments.
you will never stop hurting, but if you only remember the good times, it will hurt less.
that is the wrong attitude. go out there, sit in the truck, maybe take it for a ride and think of happier times.
i lost a very good friend of 35 years. he was like a twin brother. we did dang near everything together.
and don't be afraid to cry. it shows you are human.
bottling everything up is bad for your health.
i know i was "the strong one" and ended up with a bleeding ulcer and almost died myself from all the stress i kept hidden from everyone.
i have to get a new battery for it and i have to fix the exhaust again im going to get a new window sticker with his name on it and putting it on the drivers side since i have my name on the passanger side already i just went outside to dust off the dashboard
ok i know this thread is a little different and diffacult for some but i just had to get it out i just lost my dad last night at 8:30 pm and its a new kind of pain for me but i figured i would start a thread and like swap stories about loved ones that have passed with my FTE family
I'm so sorry for your loss bro. I lost my dad in 1995, mom in 2006, mother in law in 1993 and father in law in 1997. They all died from cancer and it still hurts like hell. The good thing now is that my sister and I are closer than ever and we spend hours on the phone remembering mom and dad and laughing about them.
Yes, very sorry for your loss. 25 years ago, I lost my Dad at the age of 58....bad heart, didn't pay attention to the signs. Went to an FHA gathering in the morning. Helped a friend shear some sheep in the early afternoon. Went home, took a nap....that was it.
I am now 57. It does haunt me from time to time but, my Dad and I...well, we have conversations to this day. Pretty damned good ones, too.
im sorry for your loss man.. i havent had to deal with many losses yet in my family and i dread the day when it comes.. luckily for me my whole family is really close and we have lots of wonderful memories..my prayers got out to you and your family..
thanks man and you can alway count on use to help you if you need it to just like everyone did for me i plan to fix the truck back to perfection with no rust ill keep the cig burns in the seat
Sorry to hear about your loss.
When my mom died at age 58 10 years ago, I eventually realized the following:
The sun will still rise every day. Your world has changed forever, but is not ruined. Slowly, as time passes, the hurt will ease, but never be fully gone. Your father will live on in your memory and continue to be an influence in your life as you go about your daily business and some activity your are in reminds you of something he told you or showed you.
It is a long process, and it was years before the occasional reminder didn't bring me to tears, but that hasn't happened in a long time now. I remember her warmly and with love, but the hurt is far, far less than it once was.
Hang in there. Help your other family members by remembering the fun/funny times.
thanks kal he is the reason i have a love for trucks and the love for performance and he tought me most of the things i know so i know what im going to do when i start working im going to start a build with my truck in memory of him
