Question Need some honest advise

I am thinking about buying a 1996 f150 4x4 auto tranny Overdrive the truck has a 5.0 efi in it and the guy says that the tranny would not shift from 3rd or would not go above 50 either now i found a 1988 full size bronco tranny 4x4 but it says nothing about this overdrive crap will this make a problem if i put this tranny into this 150 or can i just make it a 2wd truck? and how hard will it be for me to do the swap?

Does the 96 have an E40D or 4R70W? What transmission is in the 88?

Swap in the c6 and the transfer case.
Then trick the computer into running the engine correctly. It also uses feed-back from the tranny for engine control.
The C6 is a much easier tranny to work with than the new stuff and much more heavy duty.
