bendix staying engaged
hello everybody. alright so on my 95 psd, this morning i went out to start my truck, was late for work didnt get to plug it in, uit was probably about 20 out. i let the glowplugs light for a lot longer then usually, crank it once, almost starts. so i just hit it real quick to get it too start, and the starter stayed engaged until i could get the battery disconnected. i hooked the batteries back up, went to start it again and the starter got stuck engaged again. now the starter is stucked engaged once the truck gets any power, even without me touching the key. any ideas? thanks alot in advance

Check the starter relay on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Disconnect the lead to the starter motor. You'll need some sort of volt meter. Then with the key on see if you have 12 volts on that side of the relay to ground. If so there is your problem. The relay. The starter should only work when the relay is engaged.

I've had 2 trucks do the same thing, but the batteries were so low they would not disengage the starter. Sounds weird but it's true. Fresh batteries fixed it.
