Does this sound normal to anyone. After I ran my tank almost dry, I filled the tank and topped off with about 28 gallons of fuel. The above display stated 249 miles till empty. How accurate or out of whack is this display? I know the outside temp guage is pretty accurate.
I am thinking you have reg bed on your truck. I have a long bed V10, which comes with a 38 gallon tank. My display is pretty close. When I fill up, it says 430 or so miles to empty. sometimes a little less and sometimes a little more than that. The display says I am getting 11.6 MPG. When I do my own calculations I get 10.9 MPG.
I did relize that you never get that complete whole milage that it says (430 miles) do to driving in hills or towing, different speeds. All are varibles that play into the milage at the end. I get an average of 375 to 400 miles to a tank due to the different driving that comes up.
Hope that this helps.
I did some calculating from your figures. 249 miles to empty and putting in 28 gallons. Looks like your getting around 8.9 MPG's. You also have 285 size M/T tires which are ruffly 33's and not the smoothest tread of tires. These factors also affect your MPG's. I do not know what your driving habits are.
I know that this MPG thing is a little off of your orginal post question regarding how accurate is the display. But I thought i would just mention it.
