no heat

i have a 94 ford ranger 3.0 with 225,000. the engine runs way too cool and the heater barely puts out. yesterday a replaced the thermastat, flushed the cooling system, and installed a new radiator cap. now it still runs the same temp and puts out no heat what so ever. what am i missing? i have heard that there were heater core issues with these models, but it doesnt leak and that shouldnt have anything to with the coolness of the engine, right?

Did you check the water shutoff valve that shuts off flow to heater when a/c is used. Maybe it is stuck and shutting off flow. Are either hoses leading into heater warm to touch? Did you park truck on incline with cap removed until and run till engine at operating temp to purge any trapped air?

Another thought is the fan clutch for radiator fan. It is supposed to freewheel once engine warms up. Maybe it is engaging all the time.

as mentioned ........when you say hose to core is warm . did you feel the hose right at the firewall? the heater control vlave should be in line of this hose.. if it is stuck it will stop the flow to the core.....see if the hose going into the firewall is HOT
