Help! Bed Seam Rust On Primered Bed!
Now the problem-
I took the bed over to my buddy's shop. It has been there for a week and I noticed three spots about 1/2 inch long in the side horizontal seam of some rusty watery spots! The bed is completely inside! Where could this bee from? Would the moisture in the air possibly condense on some inner panel and cause this?
Question-
The bed is completely primed and ready to paint. Can I just put some phosphoric acid on it right over the primer, seal the seams with 3M's sealant ant go with it? Or, do I need to reblast the area and start from scratch.
Thanks
Personally, I'd reblast the entire seam, OSPHO it, seam sealer, reprimer then shoot it with paint. If you're already showing signs of rust, then it must have had a problem already in the first place. I wouldn't take the chance that other spots show up in a year or 2.
Other than that, be patient and hopefully one of the bodywork guys will step in here to give you a better answer.
