Intake Gasket ?'s
Truck has been setting about 3-4 days now. Checked oil today and there is coolant in oil and coolant standing in the timing cover area. What could have went wrong?
I did drive the truck right after I changed the intake gasket, did that keep it from sealing properly? Weird though that I drove it for 3 days and kept a check on oil and there were no problems or leaks. Thanks.
In lieu of one of those testers, I made one of my own using a garden hose cap and the Schrader (or Presta) valve from a bicycle inner tube, and one of those Prestone cooling system flush kits. Install the T fitting from the kit into the heater hose; it leaves a garden hose fitting you normally close up with a supplied cap. I drilled a hole into a garden hose cap (not the one from the kit; you that to seal the T fitting) and install the Schrader or Presta valve into it. Install the modified cap onto the T fitting, and pump it up to about 15 psig with a bicycle pump, with the radiator cap installed. The cap should release around its rated pressure, again, unless there was a leak elsewhere. This little device tests the radiator cap as well.
