Question After run?

Ok I put a Holly 4bbl 670 cfm street avenger carb on my 84 f-150 302. Well Its lately its been "over running" or what ever its called when i shut it off. Why would it do this and how do I stop it? Thanks for any help on this matter.

After run?

"Dieseling" & "run-on" are the common names for this. It caused by a) the engine running hotter than it should and b) the throttle not closing fully when the engine is off. Some carbs have a solenoid added to hold the idle when the key is on, and when the key is off, the solenoid collapses, allowing the throttle to close fully, preventing run-on. Follow the procedure printed on the emissions sticker (the one with the vacuum map) at the front of the engine compartment to set the idle & timing. If you've lost/defaced yours, you might find a copy here.

Going along with the throttle closing theory, make sure you have the idle rpm as low as practical for everyday driving.
