New 5.0 Engine
I am at the crossroads.... I really like the idea of putting a new 5.0 Engine in my 51 truck. I am putting a 91 5.0 in at the present with a FAST EFI setup. I mentioned it to my wife in passing about getting a new motor and she promptly rolled her eyes especially when I said I could sell one of our fastbacks....well that idea is not going to work. I have decided to start stashing funds... Anybody else thinking about this swap?

I'd love one in my truck safely revs to 7,200 rpms, 412hp stock.
But for me it's about as realistic as buying a new Shelby GT500 Super Snake. It's way out of my budget.
But if I could afford one I'd dress it up like Hollywood Hot rods did on their Raybestos shop truck build. Custom valve covers that look like old 427 SOHC ones and a hilborn looking injection set up. Looks awesome and sounds sweet too. But for me it's just a dream.
You can check out the new 5.0L in the raybestos truck here.

How about one in a Cobra kit car?YouTube - 5.0 Coyote engine in a Backdraft RT3

Have you priced that as a crate engine from Ford? There's also not only the cost of the engine itself, but all the electronics to make it work, too, which will be sold separately. No doubt it would be extremely cool under the hood of any of our trucks, and I'd love to have one, too, but I'm afraid it'll cost somewhere in the ballpark of one of those fastbacks your wife won't let you sell. ;-) I know that puts it way out of my budget. If you can get past that hurdle, I say go for it. It is a gorgeous engine.

Right now I have a 331 stroker in my 65 fastback and a 5.0(302) in my 66 fastback. Just finished all the mock up to lower my other 5.0 into my 51 truck. My truck has a mustang II conversion. Right now you can say all my toys have the 5.0(302) in common and the support for buy parts is geared toward the same engine. I am even picking up spare 5.0 engines for future strokers in the 66 and the 51....trying to make my vision of the new 5.0 go away from my thoughts... you are right about the money it would take... I have a rough draft of about 15K to do it the right way....Transmission has to change which boosted my estimate to 15K....my wife is laughing....like she is on laughing gas... Guess that means I need to get back to work on my truck and stop dreaming...
