Fuel leak

My truck developed a fuel leak a few days ago, I finally did a little investigating today. It appears to be coming from around the fuel bowl. I was able to tighten the two lines on the left of the bowl in the picture. Where else should I look? I am driving about 400 miles on Tuesday and will then have a month to take care of the problem.

More then likely it is your o-rings on your fuel bowl drain valve leaking. This is a pretty common problem as these trucks get older with the ulsd fuel not helping things any. Bob at dieselorings.com has a kit to rebuild this fuel drain with a few options of orings right up to mil spec last forever orings. The kit is just a few bucks or Clay at Riff Raff Diesel has them as well. Fast shipping either place and great guys.

Here is a link to repair the valve with pics Welcome to guzzle's PSD Fuel Filter Drain Valve Repair Web Page

Hopefully that gets your problem taken care of.

X's 2 on getting Bob's kit, i've gotten several from him, and he's personally taken the time to answer my questions, and the quality of parts is awesome... i would upgrade to the Florousilicone(sp?) (blue) fuel drain valve orings too.

I have aquired a fuel leak recently too. I just checked it out and it looks like it is coming from where my fuel bowl cap mates with the fuel bowl. I ran my finger betrween the two and it got soaked with fuel. I am going to double check my orings also. But for right now, it looks like i need a filter seal. just gonna buy a new filter

Ordering the drain valve kit asap, any other common places? Is it safe to drive until I get it taken care of? There is a lot of diesel on the PS of the engine and in the valley

Well I replaced the drain valve with a new assembly (Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines) with the Fluorosilicone orings and I also replaced the two viton sleeves (Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines) on the 1/4" fuel lines at the fuel bowl. So far looks to have fixed the leak. Need to take some time to get everything cleaned back up so I can verify, but looks good for now. Thanks for the help
