I remember when my dad put a flatbed on his 1986 F350 and scrapped the old bed. The next day there was a wanted ad on craigslist for one fender, and recently I found out that the 1985-1986 tailgate panel was worth a fortune.
My dad was stripping his 69 mustang coupe to rebiuld it about 6 years ago..and he tor the air conditioning unit out that worked perfectly, we are in craig alaska where it hits 90 once a year maybe in the summer..usually around 60 or 70 so who needs air conditioning, right?...well thats what my dad thought and he threw it away...the whole unit worked great....then he starts getting mustang monthly and hotrod magazine...THERE WORTH A FORTUNE!......he is still kicking himself and so are me and my brother (kicking him haha)...we were to young to know anything about it haha...i havnt thrown a thing away that i took off of my tuck ...i stripped the rusty box of my 81 F150 and me and my grandpa biult a wood under steel flatbed...i still have the tailgate that was in excilent condition....with nothing to use it on haha
where abouts do you live...and ill let you know how much of a pain in the *** it will be to ship from "B.F" egypt where i live haha....and im not gonna just give it away...id have to search and see what id want for it but probably around 50 bucks although, im not sure...its just starting to get a little suface rust on the pinch welds right on the bottom...i moved it out of the rain and looked at it about two days ago.....ill email you some pictures if you have an address....my truck was wimbleton white and it doesnt have any dents to my knowledege....raised ford leters still have origional red paint in excilent shape
yeah so send me some info and we can maybe figure this out
thats what i figured..by the time it shipped down there id be around 200-300 haha...not worth it...alright....id rather keep it anyways...maybe ill have a box agian somday im not sure.. find a bone yard
Down here in tx theres not many good tailgates or boxes in the jys. Most of the trucks in the yards are ex-farm trucks that had been worked till they had no good steel left on them, then pillidged by other farmers tryin to fix there old farm trucks.
well here in southeast alaska a junkyard or bone yard is unheard of...its basicly "midnight auto mechanicing" on abandon vehicals..and with the rain and nasty weather we get alot of...the corosion and rust has lots of fun eating away at unmanded vehicals....i would say the best place to look woud be in the south west or northwest of the states....dry and no roadsalt is where you are gonna find the best yards
