Help...1980 Ford F-150 Alignment issues

Went to get an alignment and they said it was impossible. Said the "king pin" on each wheel on the front of the truck is bad and "we don't even do those anymore, sorry" .

A. What is a "kingpin"

B. Where can I get new ones and have them installed?

Never heard of such a thing...but i wasn't even born when this truck was built.

Camber & caster i have knowledge of...but not a kingpin..or KINK PIN....hmmmm now i am in over my head. Which one is it.

The king pins attach the steering knuckle (the part yor hubs and brakes hang on) to the axle.
You ought to be able (didn't check, sorry) to buy a set at NAPA, LMC Truck, or Ford. Getting them installed might be a PITA. They're a pain to remove, and you'll need a bushing driver and a strong right arm to drive the new bushings in.

This is really one of the things that sucks about ttb, is almost 100% the alignment shops take a look at the ttb and say "Oh, sorry we can't do it."

This is why I push people to take their trucks to known-good alignment shops
that deal with trucks of all sizes on a daily basis and aren't intimidated by the
TTB.

In general, this means stay away from the consumer-oriented, mass-market
chains.

When I take my F350 in, I'm going to a local place in Denver with a great
reputation, a place called Bear Frame and Axle (Bear Frame & Axle 4815 So. Broadway Englewood CO 80113).

He must have a 2wd with king pins. The ttb is a 4x4 front axle and they always had balljoints.

ttb is twin-traction-beam

2wd is a twin-I-beam

When replacing king pins the new bushings need to be machined to fit the new kingpins so you need to take the steering knuckles and kingpins to a machine shop to have them fitted. I wouldnt reccomend trying to remove them at home unless you know what you're doing and have an oxy/acet torch
