2003 F250 6.0 liter Diesel Lariet driveability issues - NO POWER

I have just made a purchase on a 2003 F250SD Lariat Powerstroke 6.0L diesel with an Automatic trans and 4x4 Super-cab with the suicide doors. I have been test driving it for the last 5 weeks thanks to the previous owner being a friend of mine! I really am starting to love this truck even-though I have been a Chevy guy practically all my life! The only issues with this truck is that there is a slight loss of power as I step in to the accelerator pedal, the truck seems to flatten out until I feather the pedal then it shifts and takes off strong. It does this in every gear and it will shift every time I feather the pedal. When the truck is fully warm it performs MUCH better but NOT perfect. I am not very familiar with Ford's Diesel's I thought and believed that the High Pressure oil pump was at fault!???? I just dont know. My friend showed my the trucks service history! It had its injectors replaced twice the head gaskets and EGR tube were replaced as well as the fuel pump along the frame!
I also have the drivers side exhaust pipe on order as it leaks at the flex pipe. I made a stainless steel clamp to go over the leak that helps seal it until the new part gets here! The truck starts well cold or hot, I make sure that the glow plugs cycle at least twice in the morning or after a long cold soak! I am seriously getting between 13 and 15 MPG U.S. even when the truck is not running as well as it should be!
Any idea's!

Just know that the early 6.0 in 2003 and 04 have a troubled past.
As long as your friend is honest with you and shows you ALL service paperwork/engine and drive-train(transmission) warranty work
Get an OASIS report!! It's free from Ford dealer!
Where are you located?
good luck!

If it was the hpop it would not start. Check out the 6.0 forum. Definitly get the oasis report, if it has a lot of repairs stay away.

Thanks for the info. I will get the Oasis report! I really do not think that my friend would intentionally sell me anything that he thought was bad! I have known him for many years and it is not his nature! This truck was owned by him since new and it is All hi-way miles! It shows 326542 km (202903 miles). All of the warranty work was done in the first year of ownership when I think the Ford Techs here (maybe everywhere) were still guessing at the problems! They changed the whole set of injectors twice with-in 3 months when the truck was 9 months old! The oasis report should be a more complete history I am thinking! Thanks again for the info.

Hi There new at ford.my truck was doing the same thing.Have you looked at the high oil presser pump. That runs the injectors. With oil presser.I have 115k on my 2003 6.0.It went out.It will not start.....That is a big job to change on a 03.Ford wants 13hrs to do it.The part is spendy to. around $850.00 and up.I am looking on the form to see if any one has changed that part.Lookinf on my chilton does not give a good way to change.
