Ok so I have 87 F150 351w auto daily driver. With bad oil pressure
right now 4 Qts of 20-50 and 2 Qts of Lucas oil stabilizer 50lb on start up, 20lb around town, after 40 mins or more about 10lb
It is cold here now. whats worse?
Thin oil easy start up and no oil pressure
Thick oil and better oil pressure but hard on start up
Keep in mind that your engine is older than 20 years. Wear and tear is going to increase clearance which will cause a decrease in oil pressure. Your oil pressure gauge takes its reading from the last point in the oiling system. As long as you have pressure there, then you are assured that you have pressure throughout the engine. No oil pressure means you have no idea where the oiling system has lost its pressure. In short, no oil pressure is never good.
I think that I would use whatever provides the best pressure. I wouldn't even run the Lucas in it. I definitely would not use any thing like Restore. I would plan on rebuilding it or replacing it in the future, but drive it as long as it is working ok if you have to.
