Are there any thoughts or opinions on running boards or steps (which you prefer)? The kids are finding it difficult to climb in my new 93 EB Bronco. Any feedback on what brand & where to buy will be appreciated.
i would def go with the Nerf bars. Smittybuilt, or DeeZee. I have Deezee steps, that you can see in my pictures, and i hate em. They have held up well. Been smacked against several rocks and what not, but i don't like the way they look. I've found smittybuilt nerf bars for my truck for around 200, but look on ebay, i've seen em there for cheaper
I like the look of the factory fiberglass steps that came on the EB package, but they arent nearly as durable as a good set of stainless steel nerf bars. As soon as I get some time and money, I think I am going to purchase a set of Smittybilt S/S nerf bars. I had a set on an old 76 F250, and they lasted a long time.
yo, Good job MS!
Have you made any metal interior items such as a console or console extender (from oem or a tuffy console to dash?
I'm planning on using sq. steel or alum. stock to make a basic frame (probably elongated "H" pattern) and then mounting the fire ext. and other things to the frame. It would be ~8" wide (to clear the transfer case lever) and attach to a Tuffy console's cup holder at one end and a dash support @ opposite end. I'll bolt it together. Or may have it welded.
Still looking for ideas.
I've got a 4" lift, and am using the Carr Hoop Steps II - they were cheap, and work very well for me. They also make nerf bars & bigger steps for easier entry. I like the short step myself (had running boards, hated them - they just looked bad IMHO).
