Engine block heaters?

Ok.... question:

2000 F250 7.3L 4x4 Crew Cab Lariat... How much amps or watts does the engine block heater use??

Our Air Base removed all the plug ins in the parking lots so I'm trying to figure out how big of a generator I need to power 1-3 engine block heaters for 12hr shifts... I'm not a fan of sitting in a parking lot for 15-30 minutes to warm up my truck before leaving after working 12hr + shift work....

I was thinking about one of the hand held Honda generators and taping a 5 gallon fuel can to it for extra fuel to run 12hr lengths... any thoughts?

Regards, Madog

The stock, factory block heater is 1000 watts which is 8.33 amps at 120 volts.

You only need it plugged in for 2-3 hours before you crank up
