95 7.3 Keeps Shutting Down
#17
On the midship tank is where it drained down to 1/4. The rear tank has over 1/2. When it start sputtering, saw that it was down to 1/4 tank and switch to the rear. That is where I started having problems. I believe two issues happening. (1) The front tank has a problem with picking up fuel below the 1/4 tank level (2) the rear tank may be stopped up. I will check those today and post what I find.
Thanks

Ok. I started the vehicle and checked the vehicle fuel pressure at the schrader valve. Earlier today, I said that the pressure was a little under 50 psi. I stand corrected because I checked it at night. The correct fuel pressure would be about 40 psi. Today, I had it revved to about 1500 rpms and and the fuel pressure increased to about 46 psi. Afterwards, drawing fuel from the rear tank which has 1/2 tank, I revved it to about 2500 rpm. It held for about for about 2 minutes and stalled out. Opened the fuel bowl and there was a loose electrical wire attached to a metal ring (wanted to upload a jpeg image but cant). Pulled that out and refilled the bowl with fuel. Cycled the ignition on and off about 5 times, it started up. Didn't have to bleed the schrader valve. Revved it to a little more than 3000 rpms. Held for approximately 2 miniutes stalled out. Suggestions?

Good morning everyone. Repaired an extra fuel bowl I had from the replacement engine. Replaced the seals and as you state Riverrat41, the bypass screen to the FPR module was clogged. After mounting the unit, refilling the bowl, cycling the ignition a few times and relieving the air at the schrader valve and just a second of starter fluid (I know, I know. I'm trying to stop using the fluid). Anyway, the truck started and ran beautifully, aside from a few skips and adjustments to displace air in the lines. Run idle for at least 30 minutes but would not register more than 35 psi of fuel pressure (it tested with a regular air pressure unit). Before, in a previous post, the other FPR registered about 45 psi. I believed that the tire gage was defective from the fuel inside of it from the last time. I decided to drive it to a remote location with is a few stop signs and approximately a mile away. No problem. Ran at idle for about 30 minutes while I assisted a collegue. Then, I decided to be bold and venture out. I got approximately a mile from that location and it shut down. The same type of stall out. Put fuel in the bowl and remote started the engine at the starter switch in 5 second cycles (left the start fluid at home). After it built up pressure (cycled about 5 times) it started. Used the gage to test fuel pressure, did register at all. Was able to drive it home easy. No problem. I punched it a few times, no problem this time. I turned it off and started it again, starts fine. This morning, it was about 39 degrees, I wanted to see if it would start. It did. I would like to drive it but I'm afraid of it now. I've order another fuel repair kit to rebuild the bowl I replaced because that register 45 psi.
I know it is a long post but I wanted to give all the info I could. Any suggestions of how and what should be my next step. I haven't dropped the tanks yet, that's my next step.

Check out Post #6 in this thread... The Mod will bring your Fuel Pressure back into Speck. From what I have gathered, if it is below 60 PSI then you should incorporate this Mod. Good Luck!!

I am still with ya too.I am thinking two items here and could be wrong. We are dealing with fuel. The cracked fuel line is an option but you are not seeing a leak.Could be small and not leak as well.
I am thinking either two restricted fuel tanks(very rare) but could happen or you have a bad ''new pump''.....
