SIOUX FALLS — South Dakota's population has surpassed 800,000 for the first time, according to data released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The final count of 814,180 is a 7.9 percent increase from the 2000 Census. South Dakota is the fifth-smallest state in the United States by population, behind Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota and Alaska. The state, which also was the fifth-smallest in the last census a decade ago, is also one of five states with the lowest population density.
Loving that low population density, life in one of the big square states is good! But, if it keeps growing, I might have to move to Wyoming.

I thought it had at well.
Here is another excerpt from the Tribune:
Failing to gain an extra seat in the House of Representatives means Montana retains its status as the largest population for a congressional district in the country, nearly 100,000 people more than Delaware, which has 900,877 people, according to the new census. The U.S. Census Bureau said Tuesday that the average member of the U.S. House represents about 710,767 people.

I still can't believe they haven't given MT another seat in the House of Reps... I feel sorry for poor Denny Rehberg having to run all over the state, that's a lot of miles to cover for one guy.
They oughtta start counting the cattle, that probably put the MT population at 4 million, lol.

If they did go by cattle, we would give Cali a run for their money (or lack thereof, lol)
