Starting problem
I can't find the thing! Anyone know where this switch is and how to get to it? I've followed the clutch pedal all the way up as far as I can see without finding it. Is it even under the dash or is it in the engine compartment; on the firewall maybe? I'm gettin' sick of opening the hood to start it with a screwdriver on the solenoid (which I already replaced). Any help out there?
I have the same truck and had the same problem. The clutch SW is under the dash on the fire wall to the right of the steering column and about in line with the lower edge of the dash. Looks like Rube Goldburg designed it.
In my case, after considerable effort in removing the clutch SW, I found the trouble to be a bad contact in ignition SW. Not much can go wrong with the cluth SW. To avoid the nite mare of removing the ignition SW, I cut the lead from ignition to cluth SW, mounted a spring loaded toggle SW on the bottom edge of the dash, located a term. in the fuse block that was only hot when the ignition was on and by passed the problem. Jury rig but cheap and easy. Been working for two years. At 140K miles, I am not picky.
