1955 F1 tailgate
i recently purchased a 55 F1 pickup to restore. its in great shape, however the tailgat is missing. can anyone tell me what years tailgate will fit that truck. not having much luck fing a 55.thanks

Suppossedly, if you have a stepside everything from 53 to 72 is the same..fenders, bed, tailgate etc......go to Motorhaven or some of the vendors who support FTE and you should see a listing for tailgates....good luck and have fun

Well sort of. The bed sides are physically the same size but the fenders were raised about 2" '57 when long running boards went away.

Anybody by chance know where I can get my hands on a Mercury tailgate for my 56? I don't know any aftermarket suppliers and I have yet to see any at swap meets (guess I'll have to go to pigeon forge )
