What's the point of having electronic 4x4 on the dash and manual hubs
#16
Okay so I continue to use just the dash switch and just keep the hubs in the auto position. How would I know if I have a vacuum leak and 4wd is not engaged. When my tires are spinning? When I loose complete control on a snow covered street thinking 4wd was working properly? Will a dash light alert me to the fact the 4wd is not engaging? Should I just put the hubs in locked position whne I anticipate needing 4wd. Tks everyone

Because the vaccum that locks the ESOF hubs in is not constant. If the wheel doesn't move in relation to the shaft enough for the hub to fit in to the locked position in relation to the axle shaft there will be no more force on the locking mechanism to trip it in to the locked position once the wheel does move. If you manually lock the hub the mechanism is positioned to the "locked" position so when the hub and axle shaft line up it pops in to place. The parts just have to mesh together. If the vaccum isn't there to do it the parts won't lock.
