I have a 2001 Ranger Edge that has a leak at the thermostat housing. I have replaced the upper and lower housing, thermostat, gasket, hoses and the leak stopped for six days now it is leaking again in the same spot. What can i look at to get the leaking stopped? The second issue is the auto transmission is slipping into neutral when it is cold. It only does it once and then the transmission is fine. The problem happens when the truck is cold and acts like the truck is put in neutral but, when I let off the gas and the rpm's come down the transmission will go back into gear. Thanks Desert 4x4
maybe you tighten it up to tight it could have cracked or deformed the upper plastic housing its easy to do and for the transmission when was the last time the fluid and filter was changed
On the tranny question, is the fluid level where it's supposed to be when the fluid is fully warmed up, after driving 10 miles & back????
If so, maybe have a trusted tranny shop scan the tranny computer & see if any codes turn up that'll offer up a good clue.
Post All of the code numbes found
Was it doing this Before the tranny service????
Did you opt for the chemical flush part, when the tranny service was done????
Thanks guys I flushed the tranny at home and I did replace the filter. The tranny did this before it was flushed, and seems to do it only when cold. I will pressure test the system and report back.
