Might be wiring, check for voltage at fuel sender connection at fuel tank.
The sender is a variable resistance unit. High resistance high level, low resistance low level. Check resistance at fuel sender connection at fuel tank.
If you ground the instrument panel end of the sending unit wire at KOEO, the gauge should indicate Full, if it's working ok.
If not suspect the instrument panel gauge or a connection there.
If you ground the sending units wire at the tank end & the gauge goes to Full, that'll tell you that the wiring back to the instrument panel is ok.
If you have to replace the sender/pump assy, it's said that it's easier to do, by removing the tailgate to make things lighter, unbolting the bed, fuel filler hose, taillight connector & sliding the bed back to rest on the rear tires & saw horses, to access the pump, than draining & dropping the tank.
Fuel with a high sulphur content can corrode the fuel level sending unit wiper & cause problems.
Chevron claims their Techron Concentrate Plus can remove the corrosion & wake up a sending unit.
So, maybe a 20oz treatment in the tank at the pump, before filling up with Chevron, Texaco, CalTex, or now Shell, would be worth a try, as those fuels have a PEA based ad pack, so the added 20oz Techron will raise the treat rate 10X above pump gas alone & can usually tidy things up in one treatment.
If it doesn't wake up the sending unit, it'll clean up the fuel injectors, intake valves, piston crowns & combustion chambers, so at least you'll get some return on your investment!!!!
Let us know how it goes.
