Tuner Question

Ok,

I know alot on here recommend the SCT Tuners, and I'm giving them some considerable consideration, but I also have to ask about the Edge and Bullydog products as I can get a great deal on either one. I should also mention my Truck ('07 F-250 4X4 Lariat 6.0 67K) is completely stock. My main agenda in adding a tuner is to increase fuel economy and add a little pep when I want to play (more for the fuel economy as I get ~14 now by calculation). This is my daily driver and is driven mixed city/hwy in southeast texas (normal temps between 40 and 100). Only towing is a 32' camper 4-5 times a year (~7800 lbs) and some minor hauling in the bed. Here is a list of what I have been looking at:

Edge Juice w/attitude 10104
Edge Evolution CS 85100
Edge Evolution CTS 85200

Bully Dog Triple Dog 40420

SCT Livewire

My main reason for choosing these is to kill two birds with one stone. Basically a tuner and gauge cluster in one. I understand you get what you pay for, but the SCT is $350 more than the most expensive of the others (Basically I can get the Edge or Bully's at cost). I understand the custom tunes (another $100) are nice, but are they worth the extra $$ when I don't plan to be out there burning the rubber off the tires? Then there is the difference between actually loading tunes or "tricking " the trucks computer. I've done alot of reading in the ~9 months I've owned the truck, and still unsure of which way I want to go. Any opinions or criticism are welcome.

There's more than one reason why everyone recommends SCT over all other brands and more than one reason you can get all the other tuners so cheap. Custom programming. It's NOT all about burning tires off. It's getting your truck to run the way YOU want.

Things might be cheaper in the beginning, but your savings get quickly eaten if/when you'd have repair bills.

Although, I wouldn't get the LiveWire, SCT hasn't really fixed the screen issues on it and I really don't think they are going to.

Bare in mind that my first tuner was the older style BullyDog Triple Dog.

You sound like me two years ago, but I didn't know about this site back then. I went with the edge and man did it bite me in the ***! I loved the power, but a new transmission was not what I wanted. I don't use a tunner now because I just don't want to risk it. stay away from edge. I hate to say that because I have a lot of friends that work at edge and they are a good place, but they just don't work on our trucks.
